There are more than 7,000 virtual youtubers in Japan as of now, it has been expanding more and more every year. We started to see vtubers as a tv host and a cast, so now they’re not only on internet but also in tv industry as well.
When you see the vtubers specialized in overseas, it’s a little different than the Japanese vtubers. They have their own culture behind the characters. On instagram, there are virtual instagrammer who is a new fashion icon, on bilibili, there are more and more chinese virtual streamer.
There was an event called “V-to World” last year in summer, which is to connect Japanese vtuber culture and overseas and that made vtuber connect more close worldwide. And today we’ll introduce 9 virtual talent that you must check out!
Lil Miquela
As we all know lil miquela is one of the first virtual instagrammer and has over 1.5 million followers on Instagram. Not only an influencer, but also a fashion model for Prada and other big fashion brand. Also she is a singer releasing original songs on her YouTube channel. She is not like typical Japanese virtual talent, more like human-like virtual character doing same things as we do.

She is from Shanghai call herself “god”. She speaks both fluent Japanese and English and mainly active on Chinese version of YouTube Bilibili. Also she collab with Japanese vtubers on YouTube live and has fanbase in both China and Japan.

She’s from England and has been live streaming on WINKS but she revealed that she is Venus Angelic who has over 170K subscribers on her YouTube channel and she declared that she’ll do youtube. She is an idol vtuber said will post singing videos from now on.

DD
His name DD means brother (didi) in Chinese. He is specialized on YouTube and Bilibili and introducing Chinese culture. His goal was to reach 1 million followers on Weibo last year, but couldn’t reach, so on December last year he stopped being vtuber, but he came back on March 2019 and now vlogging about his stay in Japan.
JJ
She is DD’s sister and was posting videos with only voice, but since last October she started her career as virtual vocalist. Her name is also from Chinese word means sister (Jiejie). She can sing not only Japanese songs but also Chinese songs.
Maya Putri
She started her vtuber career back in 2018 August, chasing her dream to be Indonesian singer. Mainly posts videos of cover songs. In the biggest asian anime festival called “Anime festival Asia”, she collaborated with one of the biggest vtubers like Kizuna Ai and SHIRO and gained so much fans from Indonesia.
Ami Yamato
She started her career as early as 2011, there were no virtual youtuber back then, so she is one of the first vtuber out there still active. She’s from Japan lives in England and known as very high quality and natural virtual character.
ReVdol！
They are Chinese virtual idol. Collaborating with Wechat and basically fans decide their career. Fans can vote for big decision and it’s fun for us to be the part of their career. They can sing and dance well like every other real idols. Now they put effort into expand their career in Japan.
Luo Tianyi
Technically she is VOCALOID character, not vtuber but we have to include her as a part of Chinese virual culture. She does concert using real motion capture and hologram technology and collaborating with human singers such as Joker xue. Also she did collab with fashion brand FR2.
